Journal Entry I

I switch screens. Someone from school wants to connect on LinkedIn. Don’t you wish for anonymity sometimes? A chance for a do-over? A blank slate. Fresh start. Yet the past always finds a way to catch up to you. As I travel to work this Tuesday, treating myself to a cab ride instead of driving my usual scooter, I do wonder if one day, my life here would be relegated to the background of an unwanted LinkedIn request. Or perhaps, not even that. No LinkedIn at all. I do wonder (or hope) that one day I can look back on these days of diligence the same way I look back on the days of slogging math problems in high school – as an unfortunate rite of passage, but one that I have definitively gone through.
